Violence In and Out of the Home

Henar L. Senovilla, a journalist who specializes in the family landscape states that the origin of violence in young children can be traced to the absence of a parent or the presence of a violent father or mother. Either of these situations can generate aggressive conduct in children and carry them into antisocial behavior in their adolescence. In addition, spousal tension, the socioeconomic situation or a skewed home dynamic can contribute to the aggressive behavior of children.
Bullying can exist in any type of school, public, private, but according to some experts, the larger the school the greater the chance for harassment. Lack of control and vigilance are factors here. School hallways should be monitored by teachers or security personnel at all times. With that in mind, how students are treated is also very important. Lack of respect, humiliation, threats or any other further divide between the teaching faculty and students can occasion a climate of violent and aggressive situations. The school is not only a building for teaching subjects but a vehicle for generating social behavior.
It is clear that there are many social and psychological reasons to threatening behavior; one that is undeniable is the devaluing of the human being. We are suffering from a lack of respect of tidal wave proportions ; we are in desperate need of a positive attitude in restoring value to “others.” This is especially important in the upbringing of our children.. And we must begin in infancy to prepare them to live in society.
When I lose sight of the fact that my fellow man and woman have their origin and destiny in God, that is, when I think of them as pure rational animals, I then also lose sight of their dignity and they end up being purely “obstacles.”
Bismarck use to say that we need to forge the guns of war in times of peace. It is in times of peace, when they are still very small, that we should forge the character of our children so that they can confront the adversities of daily life, especially those adversities that come up in marriage.
We need to forge character to know how to treat people we don’t like, people who despite our personal tastes are still are creations of God, full of dignity like us. Sooner or later all of us will be living side by side with people very different from us.
When politicians lose sight of the dignity of the human person, their efforts lead to personal enrichment. Business people also succumb to dishonesty , viewing their customers as one big feedlot. Doctors are not immune to the perils of enrichment.
A constant reminder of what each of us, all of us really are, people worthy of dignity and respect, can our society be truly human.
